- KMa-1A reputable FMCG company is looking to employ a Production Foreman.
To ensure effective management of the factory and its staff (production departments and all related activities) and to ensure uptime, output, and targets are continuously achieved and ensure that the quality requirements of the organisation are maintained to the highest possible standard and to provide feedback to top management as necessary.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage factory staff and ensure productivity, output and efficiencies are achieved.
- Achieve required output and uptime, reducing waste and downtime.
- Ensure timesheets are completed correctly and accurately.
- Ensure that all tooling, consumables and raw material inputs are available at the presses in advance of changeovers.
- Reduce time for changeovers on all machines.
- Plan and complete production staffing schedules, presenting and requesting overtime and temporary requirements for approval.
- Assist with WIP stock counts.
- Assist machine operators in running their machines correctly and optimally.
- Ensure the production plan is followed and achieved to meet all deadlines.
- Engage with engineering as and when required to ensure optimal performance and minimal disruption to production from breakdowns.
- Strive to have a healthy and productive work environment in line with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure quality standards are met and quality products are produced at all times and in time.
- Work with the quality department as necessary.
- Engage with all departments as necessary to ensure production outputs are achieved and to resolve production disruptions or problems identified.
- Ensure factory is neat and tidy at all times, ensuring general housekeeping is continuously maintained.
- Approve leave and plan for when staff are on leave or absent for whatever reason.
- Manage staff, implementing the company discipline and taking the necessary action when required.
- Manage the movement of WIP throughout the factory in a structured and safe way.
- Assist in investigating and resolving all WIP irregularities and manufacturing variances where possible.
- Ensure production maintains all health and safety requirements including FSSC requirements at all times.
- Assist in completing all NCA's for the company and against the company.
- Identify areas for improvement (increased productivity or reduced costs) and present to management for approval.
- Assist engineering with identifying areas of machines requiring maintenance and supplying a list of areas requiring attention for planned maintenance.
- Provide timely and accurate feedback to management.
- Adhere to company policies at all times, including production work instructions and ISO standards.
- Any other work and duties assigned to you by management.
Requirements
- Matric with Printing Trade test Qualification.
- 5–10 years on the job experience within a printing and packaging industry.
- Knowledge of printing presses, including the sheet fed process and finishing process.
- Knowledge of Gravure Printing Principles and/or Litho Principles.
- Experience managing staff, having excellent people skills.
- Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate and interact at all levels.
- Fully computer literate.
- Ability to work shifts.
- Able to work overtime when required.
- Have good problem‑solving skills.
