A global diamond company is seeking a Manufacturing Project Manager in Johannesburg, South Africa. This role requires the execution of manufacturing activities within Upstream Technology, leveraging project management expertise. Responsibilities include planning manufacturing projects, managing costs and quality, and improving production processes. Candidates should possess a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Mechanical Engineering and have at least 5 years' manufacturing experience. Upstream Technology has operations in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa and is part of the De Beers Group. We deliver technical services and technology systems to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the De Beers Diamond value chain from exploration to diamond recovery. Activities include marine geophysical survey, sampling, mining, projects, engineering, technology development and maintenance. We provide specialized diamond processing and recovery technology for the De Beers Group Exploration and Mining Operations. We are the industry leader in marine mining practices resulting in the most successful and advanced marine mining equipment and operations globally
This role reports into the Product and Services Department
This role is responsible for executing activities within the De Beers Upstream Technologies Manufacturing function by applying technical expertise, project planning, and project management capabilities throughout the manufacture of Upstream Technology products. The incumbent will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including technical buyers, the product testing department, and the R& team as well as external manufacturers. The role further involves overseeing product assembly teams, managing product cost and quality, and ensuring adherence to agreed delivery schedules.
