Overview

Part-time (Half Day) Software: Xero | Karbon | TaxCalc

Role Purpose: As a Senior Accountant, you will support the delivery of high-quality accounting services across a portfolio of clients. You will review work completed by junior accountants, handle more complex accounting tasks, and escalate technical or judgement-based matters where required. This is a hands-on role, combining processing, review, reporting, and support responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Client Portfolio & Hands-On Accounting

• Manage a smaller portfolio of clients alongside junior accountants
• Complete full processing and monthly reviews for assigned clients
• Support junior accountants with complex reconciliations, unusual or non-standard transactions, and Xero setup issues or corrections
• Ensure all work and progress is accurately reflected in Karbon

Review & Quality Control

• Review junior work to ensure balance sheet integrity, VAT accuracy, and readiness for management reporting
• Identify issues and escalate technical or judgement matters to the manager
• Implement decisions and feedback provided by management

Management Reporting

• Assist with the preparation and review of management reports
• Ensure reports are accurate and based on fully reconciled data
• Add basic commentary where appropriate
• Escalate strategic insights or concerns to the Head of Finance
• Ensure reports are issued by the 15th of each month

VAT Oversight

• Review VAT returns prepared by junior accountants
• Identify errors, anomalies, or inconsistencies
• Escalate unclear VAT treatments
• Confirm VAT returns are ready for client approval
• Support juniors through corrections and on-the-job learning

Annual Accounts & Tax (With Support)

• Assist with: Working paper preparation and review, Drafting annual accounts, Preparing corporation tax computations in TaxCalc (subject to review)
• Support client meetings where required
• Escalate technical decisions and final sign-off to the Head of Finance
