Job Summary
Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Library Assistant to support the daily operations of campus and community libraries. This position is ideal for university students who are looking for flexible work opportunities that align with their academic schedule. Key Responsibilities
- Assist library visitors in locating books, reference materials, and digital resources
- Maintain orderly shelves and return items to their proper locations
- Support the check-in/check-out process using library software
- Monitor reading and study areas to ensure a peaceful environment
- Help with cataloging new materials and maintaining accurate inventory records
- Provide basic IT support for library computers, printers, and e-resources
- Respond to inquiries in person, by phone, or via email professionally and promptly
- Participate in library events, displays, or educational activities when required
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a university or college program
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office and internet browsers
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently
- Friendly, customer-focused attitude
Experience
- No prior professional experience required – ideal for students
- Any experience in customer service, academic environments, or volunteering in libraries will be considered a plus
Working Hours
- 10 to 20 hours per week
- Flexible shifts including evenings and weekends, adjusted around your class schedule
- Opportunity to work extra hours during exam periods or special events
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Interest in academic or public library services
- Understanding of library rules, research tools, and digital databases (preferred but not essential – training provided)
