An educational organization based in Johannesburg is seeking a mid-senior level Network Communications Manager. This role involves driving growth and communication strategies to enhance network engagement and support early learning initiatives. Network Communications Manager
The Network Communications Manager is responsible for driving the growth, engagement, and communication strategies across the SmartStart network.
This role will develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that strengthen SmartStart's brand, engage the SmartStart network (franchisors, programme leads, coaches, franchisees, clubs and parents), and support the network's growth, reach and impact in early learning.
The role will lead efforts to build a vibrant, practitioner-driven club network while ensuring consistent and inspiring brand communication across all network channels.
This role reports to the Head of Societal Communications.
Lead the design and implementation of club activation and value‑building initiatives for franchisees.
Collaborate with the value chain design team to conceptualise and improve club leader journey activities and growth paths.
Develop and execute strategies to re‑activate and support a practitioner‑driven club network.
Implement and manage the League of Stars competition and other relevant campaigns.
Create and oversee incentive programmes to enhance the value proposition for network members.
Ensure integration of club initiatives within the digital transformation strategy and collaborate closely with the platform team.
Spearhead the coordination, strategy and implementation of communication across the SmartStarter network.
Align communication efforts with Early Learning and Value Chain teams to support practitioner success and SmartStart outcomes.
Partner with IT and Digital Transformation teams to optimise communication platforms and channels.
Develop and manage targeted messaging campaigns for SmartStarters at various stages of their journey.
Continuously monitor, evaluate and refine communication strategies for maximum engagement.
Identify opportunities for network expansion and implement strategies to attract new SmartStarters.
Develop and maintain support systems for practitioners, ensuring they have the resources needed for success.
Foster a sense of community and shared purpose among network members.
Lead the organisation and coordination of flagship Week of the Stars and UNITE Network events.
Lead the themed network events across the province through the event support team and in collaboration with the societal communications managers.
Analyse network engagement data to inform decision‑making and strategy development.
Prepare regular reports on network growth, engagement levels and communication effectiveness.
Use insights to continuously improve network development and engagement strategies.
Work closely with various teams including Early Learning, Value Chain, IT and Digital Transformation to ensure aligned and integrated approaches.
Represent the network's interests in organisational planning and decision‑making processes.
BA / BCom Degree or Diploma in Communication Science, Behaviour Science, Journalism or Public Relations.
5 Years+ proven experience in community management, network development, or similar roles.
Event management experience with large and complex events advantageous.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with digital engagement strategies and platforms.
Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Passion for early childhood development and community empowerment.
