Function Management Facility Position National Renal Nursing Manager
Introduction
A vacancy has arisen for a Renal Nursing Manager, based at Life Healthcare Head Office, Dunkeld, reporting to The Chief Nurse Officer with a matrix reporting line to the General Manager: Life Renal Dialysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the national nursing strategy within Life Renal Dialysis.
Critical Outputs
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to nursing across the Life Renal Dialysis business.
- Ensure renal nursing strategy is aligned to the national nursing strategy.
- Promote teamwork development and high standards of care.
- Mentor Renal Unit Managers
Operational Oversight
- Oversee implementation of nursing strategic focus/initiatives protocols, policies.
- Oversee and monitor use of renal business-related clinical systems.
- Monitor and manage safe staffing levels.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control standards and patient safety protocols.
Quality Improvement
- Lead and participate in QI initiatives to enhance patient clinical outcomes (renal disease management) and patient experience.
- Effective governance within Life Renal Dialysis units to mitigate clinical nursing risks.
Financial and efficiency management
- Co-develop efficiency tools and ensure that it is rolled out to the Renal Business
- Manage the nursing budget and monitor financial performance.
Strategic planning
- Ensure contribution to the achievement of agreed targets.
Stakeholder engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including National Renal Management, Hospital Management, Standalone Renal Unit Management, Regulatory bodies.
- Collaboration with national nursing function.
Sustainable pipeline of resources through skills development
- Strategically analyse and identify clinical and systems training needs and implement educational programs to enhance renal nursing skills.
Data Management and reporting
- Utilise renal systems data to drive strategic decision-making and improve renal nursing practices.
Requirements
- Grade 12 National Senior Certificate.
- Bachelor’s/master’s degree in nursing.
- Experience in Nephrology Nursing is recommended
- Post graduate qualification in healthcare management would be an advantage
- Current registration with South African Nursing Council
- Technical and Professional Competence to the critical outputs
- Understanding of funding models
- Knowledge of Nursing Education framework
- Understanding of SA healthcare industry
- Understanding of operating structures and relationships within the Life Renal Dialysis environment
- Proven leadership and people management experience
- Computer proficiency in MS office
