General Description

This MSL role will serve as a scientific expert and trusted resource within the oncology therapeutic area, primarily engaging with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders to exchange scientific information, support clinical research initiatives, and provide actionable medical insights.

The MSL will support pre-launch and post-launch Medical Affairs for the hematology and oncology pipeline.

Key responsibilities include working closely with internal colleagues in medical affairs, clinical development, clinical operations, and other cross‑functional partners to support BeOne Medicines' pipeline development.

The MSL will coordinate external collaborations and research endeavors with health care providers and external academicians, establishing BeOne as a valued collaborator and best‑in‑class biopharmaceutical company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide education to the medical community on BeOne Medicines products and disease areas of focus.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop and execute a medical plan designed to meet shared objectives.
  • Facilitate responses to unsolicited requests for medical information in collaboration with BeOne Medicines Medical Information Services personnel.
  • Develop tactics for communicating complex scientific information to the healthcare community.
  • Provide impactful feedback on emerging clinical and scientific trends from external interactions to help shape company research and ensure the safe and appropriate use of BeOne medicines products.
  • Develop contacts with key clinicians, university teaching hospitals, payers, and other medical / scientific groups.
  • Develop and deliver one‑on‑one clinical training on approved clinical slide sets.
  • Act as a clinical resource with professional and advocacy organizations, building relationships and identifying potential business opportunities.
  • Assist in the development and execution of locally relevant medical meetings (e.g., advisory boards, educational meetings, consultancy and investigator meetings).
  • Act as the main point of contact within the territory for healthcare professionals and institutions seeking educational sponsorships or grants, ensuring alignment with company policies and compliance standards.
  • Support Clinical Operations with the identification and verification of investigators and sites for company‑sponsored clinical trials.
  • Serve as the primary territory liaison for submission and review of investigator‑research proposals, facilitating the process from concept submission through publication.
Qualifications
  • Experience (2+ years) in the field of Medical Science Liaison (MSL) or a similar role within biotech / pharmaceutical companies.
  • Experience in hematology / oncology strongly preferred; experience in related areas (e.g., immunology) considered if transferable to oncology.
  • Clinical research experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of applicable treatment, compliance, and regulatory guidelines.
  • High level of English communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong comprehension of disease states and differential algorithms for treatment decisions relevant to BeOne Medicines.
  • Expert understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, the country healthcare system, regional cancer care models, and the impact on patient care.
  • Ability to lead training initiatives and best practices.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • PC literacy required; MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Veeva CRM skills.
  • Education: MD, PharmD. PhD or Master's in a clinical or scientific profession preferred.
Location

Johannesburg, South Africa (primarily field‑based covering the entire country with a mix of visits to the company office and home office work).

Travel: Field‑based coverage across South Africa.
