Job description

The Maintenance Supervisors at Royal Malewane Lodges work closely with the Maintenance Managers and General Managers to ensure that all lodge maintenance requirements are met and kept at the highest Royal Portfolio standards. This position is an integral role in ensuring that we meet the purpose of The Royal Portfolio, which is “to give our guests a complete experience and a perfect stay.”

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Guest Satisfaction: Ensure the lodge, pools, facilities and guest rooms are in good working order to deliver our Company purpose, which is “to give our guests a complete experience and a perfect stay”.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in controlling the department inventory, stock, consumables, water plant andequipment to ensure the lodges are operating atthe highest standard.
  • Employee Engagement: Develop the employees within the department and behave in accordance with our Company values.
  • Financial Sustainability: Ensure the Maintenance team is run effectively, and maintenance work is scheduled based on budgetary requirements and operational needs.
  • Communication: effectively communicate with maintenance team, external suppliers and internaldepartments to ensure maintenance is done whilstachieving our Company vision and purpose.
REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS
  • At least 4 years' experience in a supervisory role in the Maintenance department of a luxury safari lodge environment
  • Must have a trade qualification in two of the following: Electrical/ Plumbing/ HVAC/ Carpentry
  • Be well presented, professional, enthusiastic and energetic
  • Must have good communication skills in English (verbal, written and reading)
  • Punctual, reliable, mature
  • Pro-active, gets things done
  • Must have a team player, have respect for fellow colleagues
  • Positive attitude and highly responsive
  • Must understand and live our Purpose and Value Statement of The Royal Portfolio
  • Must be able to live on-site in staff accommodation, working 3 weeks on/ 1 week off or 6 weeks on/ 2 weeks off

It is important that the candidate is able to work as part of a team and is a good cultural fit for The Royal Portfolio.
South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document.
It is a requirement of the Thornybush Nature Reserve is that all staff undergo a pre-employment polygraph test.
