A global automotive company in Gqeberha is looking for a Tooling Maintenance Specialist. This role involves developing and implementing maintenance strategies, leading projects, and managing tooling costs. Candidates should have N4-N5 Mechanical Engineering and 3-5 years of experience in tyre manufacturing. Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills are essential. Responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the tooling consistent with the plant objectives. Develop and maintain tooling where there is a maintenance plan for all tooling in the workshop where there is a systematic tracking. Must have strong organizational abilities, excellent planning, good technical understanding and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Tooling maintenance key responsibilities:
Strategy: Develop and implement long- and short- term maintenance strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, increased tooling reliability and availability for all shifts.
Projects: Lead maintenance projects, creates installation and commissioning strategies and ensures standardization of tooling.
Cost: Manage supplies and resources while driving cost‑saving initiatives.
Reports: Ability to interpret TU reports and thus prepare, analyze data and track maintenance performance. Additionally, analyze and prepare tooling breakdown reports with corrective actions.
Maintenance: Ensure that there is a maintenance plan that is systematically developed and tracked. To perform predictive and preventative maintenance on production equipment and tooling. Identifying wear and tear patterns and root cause of tooling damage.
Legal Compliance/Regulations: Ensure compliance with OHS regulations, manage legal registers and oversee safety maintenance for critical equipment.
N4-N5 Mechanical Engineering
3-5 years’ experience in the tyre manufacturing
Proven ability to manage people and have stakeholder management skills
Advanced problem solving and conflict resolution
Knowledge in developing and applying pro‑active maintenance procedures
Strong planning and communication skills
