Key Account Manager

Fenchem SA Pty LTD is seeking an experienced and motivated Key Account Manager to oversee and manage the respective industries within the designated Southern Africa, or Eastern and Western regions of Africa.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales, business development, and relationship management.

This position involves prospecting, establishing and maintaining customer relationships, and collaborating with Chinese colleagues to achieve sales targets and company objectives.

You will be based in Sandton Gauteng, and there will be possible travel for the local and international positions.

Responsibilities
  • Source and contact medium to large manufacturers to establish new business relationships in the respective industries.
  • Make a minimum of 5 new sales calls daily to potential clients within the designated region.
  • Utilize various tools such as LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, and other prospecting methods to identify potential customers.
  • Conduct a minimum of 3 face‑to‑face, Teams, or Zoom meetings with clients weekly.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and up‑to‑date record of all customer interactions and sales activities using the SalesForce CRM system.
  • Submit detailed weekly and monthly progress reports outlining activities, achievements, and challenges.
  • Cultivate and nurture a strong working relationship with the company's headquarters in China, collaborating closely with allocated Chinese colleagues for quoting, market insights, and new materials.
  • Attend monthly meetings with Chinese colleagues to discuss strategy, market trends, and collaboration opportunities.
  • Plan and execute quarterly sales trips to Durban and Cape Town (Local) and Eastern and Western regions of Africa (International), contingent upon reaching a minimum of 10 potential customers in each location.
  • Work in alignment with the company's values, goals, and policies to ensure consistent and effective execution of duties.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Proven experience as a Key Account Manager or similar role.
  • Experience within the raw materials industry is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of sales processes, customer relationship management, and business development strategies.
  • Proficient in using CRM software (Salesforce preferred) and prospecting tools (LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and manage time effectively.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Proficiency in other local languages within the region is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel within the designated regions.
Working Hours and Benefits
  • Working hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Thursday, and 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Fridays.
  • Market‑related salary.
  • Quarterly commission payouts based on sales performance.
  • Medical Aid contributions upon successful completion of the probation period.
  • Travel expenses both international and local covered, and a daily stipend is provided based on meeting the minimum requirements for traveling.
  • On‑the‑job training will be provided for the successful candidate.
