UCOOK is a digital, e-commerce business. We create 32 new recipes for our customers to choose from each week, and we deliver fresh, locally-sourced and ethical pre-portioned ingredients to their door. Additionally we deliver frozen meals, desserts, wine, weekend meal kits and occasions boxes. UCOOK also has a physical store in Cape Town that not only stocks some of our online range, but has a delicious deli and grab & go range, as well as coffee and baked goods.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
In this role, you’ll support the seamless execution of marketing activities, including product launches, brand campaigns, promotions, events, and digital marketing across multiple channels.
As part of our collaborative marketing team, you will work closely with the Brand Manager, Social Media Manager, and Marketing Manager, gaining hands-on experience across various marketing disciplines. Core Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
1. Campaign Support
- Support the end-to-end implementation of brand, promotional, and product campaigns.
- Manage assigned projects independently from briefing to execution under guidance of more senior team members. Includes developing and managing relationships with external partners for smaller campaigns or collaborations, handling meetings, proposals, and follow-ups.
- Coordinate timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure all work is completed on time, within budget, and aligned to brief.
- Brief in tasks to the in-house creative studio, functional teams and external agencies / service providers.
- Prepare campaign status updates and assist with post-campaign analysis and reporting.
2. Content & Asset Coordination
- Brief, upload and maintain digital assets, including homepage banners, newsletters, and push notifications.
- General website administration
- Responsible for thorough proofreading and testing of all digital communications (emails, banners, push notifications), including link checking, device previews, and cross-browser tests before publishing to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Manage marketing assets library, ensuring proper storage and version control.
- Coordinate requirements for product photoshoots and creative content, including ordering products and arranging logistics.
- Develop shotlists for photoshoots in collaboration with the Brand Manager, ensuring alignment with campaign needs and creative direction.
- Contribute ideas for content creation.
3. Events & Partnerships Coordination
- Assist in planning and executing marketing events, activations, and brand partnerships.
- Source branded merchandise and manage the stock of gifting and promotional items.
- Help coordinate influencer collaborations and assist in tracking related deliverables.
4. Social Media Support
- Support the Social Media Manager with operational tasks.
5. Data & Reporting
- Assist in gathering and formatting data for marketing reports, presentations, board decks, and trading meetings.
- Conduct regular analysis and performance reporting of discount code usage using Power BI.
- Monitor data trends closely and proactively highlight significant shifts or insights to ensure the broader team remains informed and equipped to respond effectively.
- Conduct basic competitor research and analysis (e.g. pricing, product trends).
- Help track and report on marketing metrics to assess effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives.
- Budget & Supplier Coordination
- Support the administration of the marketing budget, including obtaining competitive quotes and managing purchase orders.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices in collaboration with the Finance team.
- Help maintain marketing rate card activity records and support supplier campaign implementation where required.
6. Marketing Admin
- Keep all marketing documentation and folders organised and up to date.
- Support the marketing team with ad hoc administrative tasks to ensure smooth departmental operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Marketing, Advertising, or related field.
- 1-2 years’ relevant marketing experience, preferably in a brand, e-commerce, or agency environment. (Internship experience counts towards this if substantial.)
- Experience using project management or collaboration tools (e.g. ClickUp, Asana) and platforms like Google Drive or email marketing tools are advantageous.
