Vector's vehicle fleet includes a food industry first in ‘multi‑temperature’ vehicles enabling the company to service business across frozen, chilled and ambient temperature zones on a single delivery.
Job Purpose
- To provide key support to the business and extract maximum value from the information technology platform, specifically its SAP system.
- Provide second line SAP support and assist the business to implement new projects and system enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Continuous Business Improvement initiatives – identify opportunities, quantify savings, implement enhancements, and streamline processes with documentation.
- Assist end users with SAP and other system issues; resolve calls within SLA; provide problem definitions and liaise with experts to resolve technical issues.
- Deliver end‑user training; create and maintain user training manuals and e‑learning material; conduct assessments and analyse training needs.
- Support Applications Manager in identifying IT solutions; quantify savings; prepare business‑case documentation.
- Liaise between the Business and technical consultants for system enhancements, review specs, and oversee projects.
- Execute small business projects – gather requirements, define scope, develop plans, coordinate hardware/software, compile documentation, test and communicate progress.
- Maintain SAP user profiles – create/maintain profiles, authorize access, resolve audit queries.
- Conduct system audits – report non‑compliance, highlight risks, recommend controls.
- Develop and maintain reports as requested by the Business.
- Provide ongoing best‑practice advice; develop specialist knowledge of SAP modules; recommend solutions.
- Take ownership, prioritize, communicate risks, support core values, manage expectations, champion training, and drive performance appraisals.
System Opportunity Identification
- Support the Applications Manager and the Business in identifying IT application solutions to address key Business requirements.
- Quantify savings and efficiencies and produce business‑case documentation.
Application Development, Enhancement and Implementation
- Serve as liaison to ensure implementation of identified system enhancements.
- Review and analyse technical specification documents prior to sign‑off.
- Execute on small business projects requiring IT implementation, including requirement gathering, scope definition, and project planning.
- Plan hardware/software requirements and coordinate with infrastructure team and suppliers.
- Compile and store documentation and ensure communications with developers and user acceptance testing.
- Report on business‑case realization and identified KPIs; provide post‑implementation support.
SAP User Profile Maintenance
- Communicate with authorizations team for creation and maintenance of user profiles per risk and audit standards.
- Authorize user access via UAR workflow.
- Assist with resolving user profile audit queries.
System Auditing
- Report on system non‑compliance to the Applications Manager.
- Identify and highlight business risk; recommend compensating controls.
Reporting
- Develop and maintain reports requested by the Business; run reports as required.
Technical Expertise
- Provide ongoing advice and support on best practices to ensure continuous improvement.
- Develop specialist SAP module knowledge, identify solutions, and recommend to Applications Manager.
Teamwork and Self‑Management
- Take ownership and accountability; plan, prioritize, and self‑develop.
- Maintain quality and productivity standards.
- Inform relevant parties of risks and provide resolution.
- Support business core values; manage expectations; help others; champion training and development.
- Drive performance appraisals and ensure clear targets.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required
- Degree in Information Technology or BCom.
- Matric.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience within relevant business function or IT environment.
- Demonstrated success in managing projects for performance and continuous improvement.
- Valid Code EB driver’s licence.
