Job summary

A travel and tourism company based in Green Point seeks an Intermediate Bookkeeper/Accountant. Job Summary

Career opportunity in the Travel/Tourism sector; join a young, dynamic, energetic team based in Green Point area. Play a crucial role in managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the financial health of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record daily financial transactions accurately in accounting software.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all entries are properly documented.
  • Process invoices, payments, and receipts promptly; reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Monitor and categorize expenses; assist in preparing expense reports for management review.
  • Prepare and file VAT returns and other tax submissions in compliance with regulations; assist with audits.
  • Process employee payroll, ensuring timely and accurate salary payments; maintain records of hours, benefits, and deductions.
  • Generate financial reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements; provide insights and recommendations based on financial data.
  • Support senior accountants with year‑end financial preparations; ensure all financial documentation is well‑organized and easily accessible.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Matric + relevant Financial Diploma/Degree in Accounting (advantageous).
  • Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience; experience in the tourism industry is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Advanced Excel, and accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks optional); system training on Tourplan will be provided.
  • Strong administrative skills.
