The opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to serve as Media24's primary legal advisor while building strategic stakeholder relationships and contributing to board‑level decision making. You'll be working at the intersection of law, media, technology, and business strategy.

What you'll be doing

Legal counsel

• Provide strategic legal counsel on media law, intellectual property, and digital content matters
• Ensure compliance across all our diverse media operations
• Manage litigation and coordinate external legal services
• Navigate complex regulatory requirements in the evolving media landscape

Stakeholder management

• Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, government agencies, and community organizations
• Represent Media24 at industry forums and regulatory discussions
• Influence policy development that affects the media sector

Board advisory and reporting

• Prepare comprehensive management reports for board meetings
• Coordinate annual report preparation and business plan development
• Present legal and regulatory updates to executive leadership
• Support governance and compliance reporting functions

What we’re looking for

Essential:

• Admitted attorney with LLB from a recognised South African university
• 5+ years legal practice with 3+ years corporate advisory experience
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience in board reporting or executive communication

Preferred:

• LLM with specialization in media law, IP, or corporate law
• Media, publishing, or digital industry experienceExperience with regulatory bodies
