About Discovery Health Finance

The Health Finance team is responsible for all the pertinent financial aspects across the financial cycles for Discovery Health. It includes financial budgeting, forecasting, and accounting applications for the financial transactions within the Health Space.

About Nanolabs

Nanolabs Health Services is a subsidiary of Discovery Health, acquired 1 July 2022. The business provides pathology management services to a range of healthcare settings. Nanolabs has curated technology workflows in predominantly near-patient settings to improve efficiency and reduce testing turnaround times to improve decision-making and to drive increased focus on patient safety. Nanolabs provides technical, technology and professional services to pathology practices, while driving a culture focused on innovation and operational excellence.

Key Purpose

The Finance Manager will play a crucial role in supporting financial planning, reporting, budgeting, and overall management of Nanolabs Health Services. The role is responsible for conducting monthly financial reporting and analysis, as well as cost tracking, to enable efficient and informed business decision-making. As Nanolabs is currently in the expansion phase, this role will be instrumental in implementing and improving financial systems and processes and ensuring a seamless transition across new ventures and supporting sustainable growth.

Key Outputs

Including but not limited to:

  • Review and post journals to record all entries in the general ledger
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of all the entity balance sheet accounts
  • Track and analyze costs across the various sites to ensure efficiency and cost control
  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts including variance analysis
  • Actively involved in budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting for the entity
  • Review payments and meet the contractual timelines of these payments.
  • Provide finance support to the Executive team of the business
  • Prepare annual financial statements (IFRS) and engage with internal and external auditors, facilitating audit processes
  • Responsible for the VAT and corporate taxes of the entity in collaboration with the Group tax team
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of financial data, records, and reports
  • Drive continuous improvements in financial processes and reporting frameworks
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve financial queries with related companies
  • Responsible for cash flow reporting, cross-company recharges and lease accounting (IFRS 16)

Experience and Qualifications
  • B Comm (Finance Management) or equivalent Management Accounting qualification
  • Honors (Finance Management) or equivalent Management Accounting qualification
  • CA(SA) or CIMA (advantageous)
  • Minimum 4-5 years related work experience
  • Minimum 1 – 2 years working experience in a senior finance role
  • Good understanding of IFRS and application thereof
