Our client owns and operates a growing portfolio of senior living communities across the U.S. The organization has experienced rapid expansion, adding five new communities last year and with further growth planned this year. As the company scales, they are strengthening its finance function to better support operational and accounting needs.

The Finance Assistant will work closely with the Director of Accounting to support day-to-day bookkeeping and financial reporting activities. The position is ideal for someone with a strong accounting foundation, excellent Excel skills, and hands-on QuickBooks experience.

PLEASE NOTE
  • Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST (4:00 PM – 01:00 AM South African Time). These working hours are subject to change depending on daylight savings and/or the operational requirements of the company.
  • Work Environment: This is a fully remote working role.
  • You will be required to work on both South African and US public holidays (compensation for SA public holidays in accordance with the BCEA).
  • Internet Requirements: A fixed fibre line with a minimum speed of 25 Mbps (upload & download) and the ability to support a wired Ethernet connection is mandatory. Applicants without a fixed fibre line cannot be considered.
  • Power Backup: A reliable power backup solution is required to manage load shedding and power outages. Applicants without a power backup cannot be considered.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with general bookkeeping functions using QuickBooks
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc financial reporting
  • Prepare and maintain Excel-based reports, including the use of formulas and pivot tables
  • Assist with reconciliations and data accuracy checks
  • Organize and maintain financial records and documentation
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and projects, following through to completion
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding finance-related matters
Requirements
  • Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Advanced Excel skills (reporting, pivot tables, formulas)
  • Strong computer literacy, including MS Office and Outlook
  • Highly detail-oriented and well-organized
