External Sales Consultant – Digital Marketing Solutions

Location: Blaauwberg / Bloubergstrand, Cape Town
Salary: R35,000 – R53,800 basic + commission

Role Summary
  • Join a fast-paced digital agency focused on growing revenue in the local market

  • Sell digital marketing solutions to new and existing clients

  • Build strong relationships with decision-makers through consultative selling

  • Present tailored digital solutions and close new business

  • Services include SEO, Google Ads & PPC, websites, social media (organic & paid), content, hosting and conversion optimisation

  • Field-based role with regular face‑to‑face client meetings

  • Focused on South African SMEs and mid‑market businesses

  • Occasional travel outside the immediate area may be required

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & New Client Acquisition
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through outbound prospecting, referrals, networking and targeted lead generation

  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline across relevant industries

  • Set up and attend client meetings, including on‑site visits

  • Conduct needs analysis and present appropriate solutions

  • Convert qualified opportunities into signed agreements

Consultative Selling & Solution Design
  • Conduct detailed discovery sessions to understand client business models, growth objectives, current marketing performance and budget parameters

  • Recommend tailored packages across SEO, paid search, websites, social media marketing, content, hosting and conversion optimisation

  • Explain digital strategies and outcomes in clear commercial terms, including lead generation, conversion improvement, visibility and ROI

  • Prepare proposals and quotations aligned to client goals, scope and timelines

Account Management & Relationship Building
  • Build long‑term client relationships

  • Retain and grow accounts through upselling and cross‑selling

  • Ensure smooth handover to delivery teams

  • Identify expansion opportunities within existing clients

Pipeline & CRM Management
  • Manage all leads, opportunities and activities in Pipedrive

  • Maintain accurate pipeline stages and forecasting

  • Track activities and follow دهد consistently

  • Ensure deals progress efficiently toward close

Market Feedback & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with internal sales, marketing and delivery teams

  • Provide insights on competitor activity, pricing expectations, service demand and common objections

  • Support occasional marketing initiatives such as events and partnerships

Minimum Requirements
  • Completed tertiary qualification

  • Minimum 3 years experience in external sales, consultative B2B sales or business development

  • Experience within services, media, marketing or technology preferred

  • Excellent written and spoken English

  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills

  • Passion for digital marketing and solutions‑based selling

  • Proven ability to build pipeline, manage a full sales cycle and close deals

  • Valid drivers licence and reliable vehicle

  • Willingness to travel locally and occasionally further afield

  • Strong computer literacy including email, spreadsheets, proposal writing and CRM usage

  • Experience with Pipedrive advantageous

Advantageous Experience
  • Selling digital services such as SEO, Google Ads, PPC, websites or social media marketing

  • Existing local business network

  • Experience selling to SME and mid‑market clients

  • Comfortable discussing performance metrics such as leads, conversion rates, cost per lead and ROAS

  • Experience using structured sales methodologies

Working Hours
  • Standard weekday business hours

  • Flexibility required for client meetings and travel

  • Final hours confirmed during the interview process
