Job description

The purpose of this position is to have a successful individual responsible for distributing stock from the JUMBO Distribution Centre / Main Warehouse to the required stores on a daily basis, in accordance with the operational needs of the business. The successful individual will report directly to the Outbound / Logistics Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inspect the vehicle daily before beginning your route.
• Ensure accurate packing and unpacking of vehicles in line with the manifest.
• Ensure packing and unpacking are done safely and efficiently.
• Ensure the safety of stock and contents of boxes at all times.
• Adhere to all traffic rules, regulations, and speed limits at all times.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness at all times.
• Avoid eating or drinking in company vehicles.
• Do not transport non-Jumbo staff in company vehicles.
• Maintain clear communication with management.
• Ensure copy documents are returned to Head Office at all times.
• Avoid reckless driving to protect company vehicles.
• Ensure employee and driver safety at all times.
• Report any vehicle problems to management immediately.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical stamina, including the ability to lift heavy items.
• Teamwork skills, working closely with colleagues in the warehouse and at store level.
• Punctuality and ability to adhere to strict schedules.
• Valid Code 10 Driver's License.
• Valid PDP (Public Drivers Permit).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Matric Certificate.
• Valid Driver’s License – Code 10 unendorsed, with the ability to drive a Code 10 vehicle.
• 3-5 years of minimum experience in a similar role.
