Position Notice

Please note this position is also being advertised as an Area Manager – Alcohol and Drug Service North/Northwest (500987) and only one position will be filled on merit. This position is eligible for a Multi‑Disciplinary Allowance.

Team

At the Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS), we operate across Tasmania’s North, North West and South, reaching communities through our hubs and regional outreach centres. Our teams help people take decisive steps toward healthier lives, reducing harms from alcohol, tobacco and other drug use.

Role

In this leadership role, you will:

  • Set direction and deliver results – Drive high‑quality, trauma‑informed, person‑centred practice across your team. Turn strategy into action.
  • Strengthen service pathways – Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external providers to ensure clients receive seamless, coordinated support.
  • Empower people and lift performance – Coach, motivate and equip your team to excel. Foster accountability, professional growth and continuous improvement.
  • Solve problems and remove barriers – Make decisions that keep services moving, address emerging challenges and streamline processes to support efficient, effective care.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Significant high‑level knowledge of and experience in management and leadership of professionals, including contemporary management, service delivery, strategic planning, policy development, human resources, business, project, change and information management.
  • High‑level strategic, conceptual, analytical and creative skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise activities, formulate complex professional judgments and provide appropriate analysis of research relevant to the sector.
  • Highly developed professional frame of reference encompassing interpersonal, communication, supervision, representation, conflict resolution and negotiation skills, including the ability to negotiate and work collaboratively with senior internal and external stakeholders.

Appointment Details

Permanent full‑time, day‑worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight (hours negotiable with the successful applicant). For a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full‑time, part‑time and casual vacancies.

Salary

$141,509 to $164,681 per annum, plus a 12% superannuation contribution.

Salary Packaging

Access to a salary package including living expenses up $9,010, meal entertainment up $2,650 per FBT year and other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
  • Desirable: Current driver’s licence; completion of a postgraduate qualification relevant to the position.
