Function Finance/Administration Facility Position Accounts Supervisor Introduction
A vacancy exists for an Accounts Supervisor, based at The Glynnwood Hospital, reporting to the Finance & Administration Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing full support to the Finance team.
Critical Outputs
- Assistance to the Finance and Administration Manager to maintain the strong financial control environment and enhance corporate governance practices.
- Assistance in coordinating Internal and External audits and achieving Green Internal Audit Ratings and External Audit reports that contain no financial issues other than “housekeeping” matters.
- Assistance to the Finance and Administration Manager in reviewing the monthly trial balance, with focus on material transactions including balance sheet reconciliations and identify anomalies, queries and errors for timeous follow-up with FSC to avoid old unresolved accounting issues.
- Monitor overheads and manage the control thereof through liaison with the hospital management team.
- Prepare & submit quarterly Bad Debt and Stock templates, summaries and explanations, and other similar returns.
- Assist in monitoring spend on Doctor support.
- Prepare seed funding projects reconciliations.

- Assist with periodic financial and related reports for management of the business, including, but not limited to:
- Monthly analysis of hospital results and reporting (incl. activities, key financial ratios and items below the operating EBITDA line), measuring against approved budget and prior year.
- Understand revenue mix, RSRT’s/DRG’s and the resultant analysis and action plans required.
- Formal periodic review of results with the hospital Manco team to ensure functional managers understand the financial position of the hospital and matters for which they are accountable for.
- Continual review of the balance sheet to monitor recoverability of assets and completeness of liabilities.

- Budget:
- Assist with the preparation and review of budgets (activity, stats, capex, income statement, balance sheet, cashflow, trending), in line with approved regional activity assumptions, hospital strategic plan and group budget guidelines.
- Sensible trending of the monthly budget with appropriate reasoning and logic on each major income and expense category
- Appropriate correlation between the income statement, balance sheet and cash flows
- Prepare of budget reports for reviews
- Ad-hoc analysis, reports, and investigations flowing from the budget
- Ad hoc projects involving management information and reporting.
- Manage uniform and agency reconciliation.
- Compile comparison and trending recons per Management request.
- Finance staff supervision and retention.
Requirements
- BCom Degree/ Final year BCom Degree.
- Minimum +5 years’ experience in the hospital operations and Finance department (non-negotiable), specifically financial accounting, expense analysis, agency reconciliation, meaningful analysis of financial data and doctor refunds/account/invoice query resolution.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (excel and word) is essential.
- Hospital experience and knowledge of systems (iMpilo) and SAP will be an advantage.
- A person who is results-oriented, pays attention to detail, and has excellent interpersonal as well as communication skills. Customer focus, a commitment towards continuous improvement, the ability to work independently and the management of time are required.
