Application Engineer
Job summary
A technology solutions company located in Singapore is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to design and develop PLC programs crucial for automation systems. The ideal candidate should possess at least 3 years of relevant experience, demonstrating proficiency in PLC programming using tools like TIA Portal and a solid understanding of SCADA systems, HMI configuration, and several industrial communication protocols. Excellent command of English and good problem-solving abilities are essential for this role, which may require some travel for temporary assignments abroad.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in relevant field.
- Proficiency in Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagrams.
- Basic knowledge of electrical components and soldering work.
- Familiarity with control systems integration with devices.

- Design, develop PLC programs for automation systems.
- Support commissioning and troubleshooting for automation projects.
- Design electrical panel layouts and schematic drawings.

- Design, develop and implement PLC programs for automation and control systems
- Provide support for commissioning, start-up and troubleshooting for various control and automation projects
- Design electrical & control panel layout, control schematic drawings and Bill of Material
- Perform multidiscipline and vendor co-ordination for new equipment installation
- Review vendor & engineering documents as per project requirement
- Provide support for PLC and HMI programming
- Degree/ diploma in Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Automation etc.
- Min 3 years of experience in relevant field, with 3+ years of Proficiency in programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text (ST), and Function Block Diagrams (FBD)
- Knowledge of SCADA systems, HMI configuration, and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, etc.)
- Should be familiar with input and output type with PLC
- Basic knowledge of electrical and electronics components like resister, capacitor, inductor, relay, Mosfet, Trasistor etc
- Should have done basic level of soldering work
- Familiarity with control systems and integration with various devices like sensors, drives and actuator
- Experience with electrical and control system troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Basic knowledge in SLD and wiring diagram of electric panel
- Basic experience in 2d Autocad for Electric panel design
- Deep level knowledge in working of sensor, servo motor, stepper motor and respective drive
- Strong skills and experience with PLC Programming in TIA Portal, Simatic Manager, PC Worx, Ctrlx Automation
- Good knowledge of industrial fieldbus protocols: EthernetIP, EtherCAT, ModbusTCP, OPC_UA, MQTT
- IEC61131-3 programming
- Programming skills using Structured Text language
- Experience with PLC brands such as Idec, Siemens, Phoenix Contact, Bosch will be an advantage
- Working experience with IOT/IIOT and networking is advantageous
- Basic understanding about IO/OT systems is advantageous
- Well-developed problem-solving competence, as well as customer and team orientation
- Willingness to pursue continuous further training
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to align tasks with other engineering team
- Willingness to travel and accept temporary assignments abroad
- Good Interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong and motivated team player
