This role requires at least 5 years of experience in marine assurance, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders. The position involves oversight of inspections, training of personnel, and monitoring compliance documentation.

Qualifications

Job description

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee vessel vetting processes for the chemical tanker fleet to ensure compliance with OCIMF SIRE, CDI, TMSA, RightShip, and industry requirements.
  • Prepare chemical tankers and crews for vetting inspections, audits, and customer assessments, focusing on chemical cargo compatibility and safety standards.
  • Analyze vetting inspection findings and trends, with emphasis on chemical tanker operations; implement effective corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Liaise with charterers, oil majors, and regulatory authorities on vetting requirements and outcomes for chemical tankers.
  • Maintain updated vetting records and inspection databases for chemical tanker vessels, ensuring robust compliance documentation.
  • Provide training and guidance to shipboard and shore personnel on vetting readiness and industry standards for chemical tankers.
  • Monitor changes in international regulations and vetting protocols specific to chemical tanker operations, updating procedures and policies as required.
  • Prepare and deliver routine reports to management on chemical tanker vetting performance, inspection status, and improvement plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or a relevant maritime discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in vessel vetting, HSSEQ, or marine assurance within the shipping industry.
  • Solid working knowledge of OCIMF SIRE, TMSA, RightShip, CDI vetting systems, and international shipping regulations.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and reporting ability with focus on operational safety and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
