Role Summary

We are seeking a technically skilled engineer to support the A*CRC Major System Services. This role is crucial in ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient operation of Linux-based systems that are used in scientific and high-performance computing environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and provide technical support for cloud infrastructure and Linux-based systems.
  • Perform daily system health checks, apply security updates, and manage OS-level patches
  • Manage system operations, including configuration, customization, and user account management
  • Troubleshoot issues related to system performance, OS, and software environments
  • Collaborate with researchers and internal teams to fulfill technical requirements and resolve issues
  • Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, system configurations, and troubleshooting steps
  • Support deployment and maintenance of container-based platforms e.g. OpenShift, Kubernetes
  • Develop and maintain scripts for automation, monitoring, and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security and operational standards
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience with Linux system administration, e.g. RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu, with an academic background in IT, computer science, or engineering
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals such as firewalls, routing, and DNS
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently and independently
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for system hardening and compliance will be advantage
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with researchers and technical teams
  • A proactive, service‑oriented mindset with attention to detail
