Job summary

A leading biotechnology firm in Singapore is seeking a laboratory technician to assist with various laboratory operations, including preparation for spatial genomics workflows and inventory management. Candidates should have a diploma or bachelor's in life sciences and 1–2 years of laboratory experience. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Responsibilities

Job description
Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations & Technical Support

  • Assist with tissue preparation, sectioning, staining, and imaging for spatial genomics workflows (GeoMx DSP, CosMx SMI, Xenium, Visium HD).
  • Support molecular and histological techniques such as RNA extraction, QC, and slide preparation.
  • Perform basic instrument setup, calibration, and run support under supervision.
  • Ensure adherence to established SOPs, safety procedures, and quality standards.

Inventory & Supply Management

  • Maintain and update inventory of reagents, consumables, and laboratory supplies.
  • Monitor stock levels, track usage, and coordinate ordering with vendors and finance.
  • Maintain accurate reagent labeling, documentation, and tracking systems.

Sample & Data Management

  • Track samples, metadata, and project documentation across multiple workflows.
  • Assist with sample QC, imaging QC, and preliminary data organization.
  • Support data handover processes to bioinformatics or collaborating research teams.

Coordination & Documentation

  • Coordinate project timelines and sample logistics with internal and external collaborators.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and assist in report preparation.
  • Support collaborative initiatives such as the SpACE-Dx project with A*STAR GIS.

Laboratory Maintenance

  • Oversee general laboratory organization, cleanliness, and readiness.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance, calibration, and service scheduling.
  • Support lab operations to ensure efficient workflow across spatial platforms.
Requirements
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or related fields.
  • 1–2 years of relevant laboratory experience preferred (academic or industry).
  • Experience with molecular biology, histology, or spatial genomics techniques is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Proactive, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
