Job Summary
Oversight of the designate category and purchasing to payment for designate sites and management of an international supply base to meet business requirements in terms of purchasing, delivery, quality, and total cost of ownership. Collaboration across all categories within the GPC to ensure best practices are aligned and best value for all spend. Reporting to Purchasing Director, APAC, lead the local tactical spend requirements and identify and develop long-term supplier relationships to always meet current and future requirements of the business and operate ethically and in line with business values. Liaise with site OU/BU Leadership to ensure best value for site locally.
Responsibilities
- Lead by example and always ensure that purchasing operate in an ethical and equitable manner and always conform with company values, policies, and procedures
- Oversight of strategic leadership and development of local category management strategies for all assigned categories/commodities
- Work with site BU/OU leadership and global category management team to define requirements for sourcing objectives, budgets and delivery of agreed KPI’s
- In line with strategic objectives, lead the negotiations to select, appoint and steer a supply base that progresses the site objectives on quality, cost, delivery, and innovation
- Oversee and where required lead or support successful procurement/financial audits.
- Oversee the category and supplier management activities,
- In alignment with site BU/OU , oversee in depth cost and spend analysis to develop cost savings initiatives through various cost reduction options
- Establish the site purchasing KPI targets and support cost reduction savings, vendor performance and ESG targets
- Monitor, manage and report on achievements on key purchasing indicators in line site requirements
- Identify industry trends and local market development for respective categories of spend.
- People Management - Develop, communicate, and administer site team’s annual performance and development plans and appraisals.
Requirements
- Min 8 years in leading procurement or sourcing teams within manufacturing operations, with a strong preference for the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector.
- Degree in STEM, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategies across diverse spend categories, ranging from specialized commodities to broad operational spend.
- A demonstrated history of meeting aggressive targets and driving measurable value within a high-pressure environment.
- Expert in influencing internal stakeholders and external suppliers to secure optimal pricing, quality, and commercial terms.
- Proficient in drafting and executing contract agreement for business-critical suppliers, ensuring risk mitigation and compliance.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on prioritizing high-impact workloads and meeting strict deadlines
- Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM, PMP, or Six Sigma) are an advantage.
- Deep understanding of cGMP environments and integrated facility management (IFM, MRO, 3PL).
- Advanced proficiency in SAP and Ariba is highly desirable.
- Strong command of contract law (local/international) and risk mitigation.
- Expertise in data analysis, financial reporting, and complex problem-solving.
