A photonics technology company in Singapore is seeking a Junior Photonics Test Engineer. This role invites fresh graduates who enjoy scientific investigation and hands-on experimentation to participate in wafer-level photonics measurements. Candidates should have a relevant science degree and a strong technical inclination. Responsibilities include refining test methodologies and supporting customer installation and training. This position offers training and mentorship within a collaborative team environment.
Sunyu Photonics builds machines that enable photonics chips to be tested at the wafer level. Our systems help customers move new silicon photonics ideas from the lab into real, manufacturable products.
The photonics industry is evolving rapidly. Many test problems do not yet have standard answers. Progress depends on engineers who can experiment, adapt, and engineer new solutions.
At Sunyu, photonics test engineers are at the center of everything we do. They do not only run tests. They help design test methods, improve processes, and participate in the development of the systems themselves. Real customer problems drive our machine design, and test engineers are the ones closest to those problems.
If you want to work on real technology, solve real problems, and help push photonics forward, read on.
We are recruiting a junior member for our core technical team – Photonics Test Engineering.
This role is ideal for fresh graduates who enjoy scientific investigation, hands‑on experimentation, and solving real engineering problems.
Photonics Test Engineering will be your core responsibility. You will be trained to perform wafer‑level photonics measurements and gradually take ownership of real, customer‑facing technical work. You will also participate in system development, working closely with senior engineers to improve both test capability and machine performance.
We are looking for a bright junior engineer with a strong scientific mindset.
You learn fast and deeply, and you are genuinely curious about how things work. You like to investigate problems, test ideas, and understand root causes. You pay attention to details.
You are execution‑oriented. You care about making ideas work in reality, not just discussing them. You are comfortable working with uncertainty and learning through hands‑on experimentation.
Perform wafer‑level photonics measurements on silicon photonics devices (e.g. optical alignment, insertion loss measurement, polarization control, automated test flows).
Work closely with senior engineers to:
Participate in system development, including:
Support customer‑facing activities, including:
(Local and overseas travel may be required)
Contribute to engineering work where test results directly influence customer decisions and project timelines.
You will experience real satisfaction when customers at the frontier of the semiconductor and silicon photonics industry recognize your work. Your work enables new photonics technologies to be tested, validated, and scaled—pushing the cutting edge of the semiconductor industry forward.
As you grow, you may take on additional technical responsibilities, depending on your strengths and interests, such as:
These build on top of your core role as a photonics test engineer.
