Who we are looking for

We are looking for an energetic professional to be an Investment Strategist in the SSIM Investment Solutions Group (ISG). Based in Singapore, the Investment Strategist will serve in an investment advisory capacity in support of our multi‑asset class business in the Asia Pacific region (APAC).

The Investment Strategist will be primarily responsible for working directly with clients and prospects in formulating their overall asset allocation, portfolio construction, investment style selection, risk framework, governance structure and client specific Investment Policy statements. As a strategist, you will collaborate with our broader ISG team, notably our Manager Research team who provide manager recommendations and oversight (in public and private markets), our trading and portfolio managers, and our APAC Model Portfolio team. In a client facing capacity you will partner with our dedicated client relationship managers and interface regularly with client investment committees, boards, and staff, and be a key contributor to investment portfolio and performance reviews.

This position reports to the managing director, Head of OCIO Investment Strategy – Investment Solutions Group. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record delivering holistic investment advice and solutions in a multi‑asset framework with an institutional asset manager, OCIO, investment consultancy, wealth advisor, or asset owner.

This role will contribute to State Street Investment Management strategic priority to expand in the Asia Pacific and a key part of SSGA’s Investment Solutions Group (“ISG”), OCIO and Model Portfolio offerings in the region. An important part of the Investment Strategist role is to support and help drive new business activity, as a subject matter expert, in collaboration with our business development team.

  • Familiarity with the needs of various asset owners, official institutions, endowment & foundations, pensions, financial institutions and wealth advisors in the Asia Pacific region
  • Knowledge of global capital markets, multi‑class asset solutions, and supporting asset allocation modeling
  • Experience in setting investment strategy to meet risk / return objectives, liabilities or spending requirements and client specific return objectives in an advisory / consultative capacity
  • Local insights on asset owner governance, restrictions, and regulatory considerations
  • Build positive relationships in collaboration with key internal stakeholders
  • A problem solver and trouble‑shooter, with the ability to identify and analyze issues with the creativity and energy to solve them
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written and presentation with ability to effectively communicate recommendations to investment committees and boards as well as demonstrated ability to influence outcomes
  • Highly organized, meets deadlines, with a strong attention to detail
  • Self‑motivated individual with intellectual curiosity, high energy level, strong work ethic and demonstrated personal and professional integrity
  • Appreciation of the importance of risk excellence when representing a global financial services firm
  • Maintain the highest possible fiduciary standards and ensure compliance with all internal and external requirements
  • 7‑10 years of industry experience
  • CFA / CAIA preferred
