Job Summary
The ECG Stress Testing Technician is responsible for performing and assisting in treadmill stress tests, ensuring accurate recording of electrocardiographic data, and supporting physicians in the diagnosis and monitoring of cardiovascular conditions. The role requires attention to detail, patient care skills, and adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for ECG stress testing by explaining procedures, obtaining consent, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Conduct treadmill or pharmacological stress tests under physician supervision.
- Accurately operate and maintain ECG machines and related monitoring equipment.
- Record, monitor, and document patient vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation) during testing.
- Identify, report, and respond appropriately to abnormal patient responses or emergency situations.
- Ensure proper calibration, cleanliness, and maintenance of ECG equipment.
- Maintain patient records in accordance with confidentiality and clinic policies.
- Assist with other diagnostic cardiology procedures as required.
- Perform front desk duties: Patient registration, appointment scheduling, payment collection.
- Dispensing of medication.
- Handle phone calls and patient enquiries.
- Assist doctor with simple procedures, dressing, ECG, nebulisation, vaccinations etc.
- Ensure accurate and prompt claims submissions to government agencies and corporate partners such as CHAS, Medisave, TPAs and etc.
- Maintain control of stock and consumables, including replenishment and housekeeping.
- Ad hoc duties by the Centre Clinic Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma in Biomedical Science, Medical Technology or equivalent.
- Minimal 2 years relevant experience.
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Prior experience in ECG or cardiac diagnostic procedures is an advantage.
- Good communication and patient care skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and under pressure during stress test procedures.
- Strong attention to detail with adherence to safety and clinical protocols.
- Advantage to use CMS-Hummingbird is an advantage.
