WSG Data Platform
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong technical capabilities to join our data platform team, serving as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams while facilitating agile delivery practices.
1. Business Analysis and Requirements Management
- Gather and analyse business requirements for data platform initiatives
- Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications and user stories
- Create and maintain requirement documentation, including process flows and user journeys
- Conduct gap analysis between current and desired states
- Develop acceptance criteria for features and capabilities
- Perform impact analysis for proposed changes and enhancements
2. Technical Analysis and Data Platform Support
- Work closely with Data Engineers and Solution Architects on technical solutions
- Design and review data models (conceptual, logical, physical)
- Create and maintain data marts and analytical views using Denodo and RDS to enable business intelligence capabilities
- Create data visualisations and reports using Tableau/Power BI
- Write and optimize VQL/SQL queries for data analysis
- Support data virtualisation implementation using Denodo
- Review API specifications and integration patterns
- Assist in implementing data governance and quality frameworks
- Support CI/CD implementation and testing strategies
3. Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders
- Facilitate workshops and requirements gathering sessions
- Present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate project progress
- Coordinate cross-functional team activities
4. Project Management and Agile Delivery
- Serve as Scrum Master for the data platform team
- Facilitate sprint ceremonies (planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives)
- Maintain and groom the product backlog with the Product Owner
- Manage user stories and track sprint progress using Jira
- Maintain technical and project documentation in Confluence
- Prepare and run Project Steering Committee meetings
- Track project milestones, deliverables, and risks
- Create project status reports and manage stakeholder communication
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualification in Business, IT, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in data platform projects
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience in:
- Data virtualisation tools (preferably Denodo) and VQL
- BI tools (Tableau, Power BI)
- SQL and data modelling
- Data governance and master data management
- CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent agile certification
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, and other collaboration tools
- Experience in requirement gathering and documentation
- Proficiency in project management and agile methodologies
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills
- Understanding of RESTful API concepts and integration patterns
- Understanding of cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and AWS Sagemaker would be advantageous
