Job Purpose

Within NHG’s Advancement Office, the Assistant Director will be a strategic collaborator in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors, including philanthropists, corporations and foundations, in order to support NHG’s philanthropic ambitions by fostering meaningful relationships and strategic partnerships. He/she will report to the Director, Advancement Office. He/she will support the Director in identifying and implementing strategies for success in securing significant philanthropic support, and work collaboratively with leadership and staff. In this role, he/she will manage a portfolio of potential and current Major Gift donors to NHG. He/she will be responsible for facilitating all phases of the gift cycle, including initiating contact, cultivating and moving potential donors to solicitation and closure. As a key member of the Office of Advancement, he/she will also contribute to efforts in developing General Giving programmes both at HQ and in collaboration with institutions’ charity funds (including staff giving and needy patients’ initiatives). With the aim of developing a flourishing fundraising community of practice, he/she is expected to contribute to capacity building within NHG

Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and maintain key relations with a portfolio of contacts (current and prospective donors) with the view to match their giving interests with NHG’s funding priorities and needs at the Major Gift level.
  • Lead and facilitate gift structuring to optimize donor’s gift purpose and manage the process of closing the gift.
  • Proactively identify, develop and deliver engagement opportunities to donors to ensure the maximization of their financial and non-financial support.
  • Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping and reporting of fundraising activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Major Gift, General Giving, Stewardship, Advancement Communications, Prospect Research, and Advancement Operations to develop and maintain a coordinated approach in support of overall departmental and NHG-wide goals.
  • Guide junior level fundraisers in their fundraising efforts and as part of effective moves management, work with General Giving team to cultivate and steer donors to the next level of giving
  • Capacity Building, through on-the job training as well as mentoring of fundraising colleagues at both HQ and charity funds.
Requirements

(a) Education/Training/Experience

  • At least 8 years of experience in fund raising with proven and tangible track record in the amount of funds raised
  • Have at least 3 years’ experience in managing a team of 2-3 persons with diverse experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with internal and external stakeholders and management
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex and diverse relationships and the proven ability to operate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Healthcare or research fund raising experience will be an advantage
  • At least a degree in any discipline, such as arts, business, marketing, or communications
  • Proficiency in MS Office is essential
