Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair ammonia and Freon-based refrigeration systems in cold storage environments. The technician will be responsible for ensuring optimal operation, safety, and compliance with industry standards and environmental regulations.

Refrigeration System Operation & Maintenance
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain ammonia (NH₃) and Freon (HFC/HCFC) refrigeration systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves, pumps, piping, and control systems.
  • Detect refrigerant leaks and perform appropriate repair and recharging procedures.
  • Maintain accurate logs of refrigeration pressure, temperature, and ammonia/Freon levels.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
  • Diagnose system malfunctions and take corrective actions promptly.
  • Repair or replace defective components (e.g., valves, motors, sensors, compressors).
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer manuals for troubleshooting.
  • Maintain optimal temperature and humidity levels in cold storage areas.
  • Monitor defrost cycles, door seals, and insulation for performance.
  • Support calibration of temperature and humidity sensors.
  • Follow all company and regulatory safety protocols for handling refrigerants (especially ammonia).
  • Maintain compliance with EPA, OSHA, local environmental, and refrigeration safety standards.
  • Participate in safety drills, emergency shutdowns, and leak response procedures.
