Job Overview
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, evaluating, and improving mechanical systems, equipment, and processes within the organization. The role requires the ability to perform technical analysis, oversee project execution, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles, experience in industrial or construction environments, and the capability to handle end‑to‑end mechanical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and approve mechanical designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to mechanical systems.
- Plan and supervise mechanical engineering activities including installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical equipment and machinery.
- Conduct feasibility studies, cost estimation, and material selection in accordance with project requirements.
- Perform root cause analysis for mechanical failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and project teams for procurement, fabrication, inspection, and project execution.
- Evaluate mechanical systems for energy efficiency, reliability, and performance improvement.
- Ensure mechanical engineering work adheres to industry codes, safety standards, and statutory regulations.
- Prepare and maintain engineering reports, project documentation, and progress updates for stakeholders.
- Support multidisciplinary teams during project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and leadership to junior engineers and technicians.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of post‑qualification experience in mechanical engineering roles, preferably in industrial, manufacturing, or construction projects.
- Professional membership or certification in a relevant engineering body will be an added advantage.
Skills Required
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, piping, pumping stations, rotating equipment, and mechanical fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical codes and standards including ASME, ASTM, API, and ISO.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability with hands‑on experience in troubleshooting mechanical systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Effective project management, planning, coordination, and documentation skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for technical discussions and team coordination.
