Overview

AtkinsRéalis are currently looking for a qualified Principal Transport Planner to join our Transport Advisory Planning Practice in the Middle East based in Riyadh, KSA.

The candidate will be a degree-qualified professional with 10+ years of traffic engineering, transport planning and traffic modelling experience. Experience in leading and delivering transportation projects within a multi-disciplinary technical environment together with knowledge of Middle East and/or International Transport Planning standards and practices is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to a variety of transport planning studies including large-scale transport master plan assessments, traffic impact studies or multi-disciplinary planning projects in the public and private sectors. This includes the following responsibilities:
  • Technical delivery and management of small, medium and large-scale transport assignments with minimal supervision
  • Work closely with Project Managers and other AtkinsRéalis departmental staff to ensure timely completion of analyses, reports and plans
  • Prepare high-quality written reports and technical analyses and present outcomes to concerned parties
  • Advise the client and stakeholders on transportation matters
  • Represent the Transportation Team while interacting with internal clients and external stakeholders / statutory authorities
  • Ensure deliverables adhere to QA/QS and document management protocols
  • Apply technical competencies and share these with junior staff
Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning or equivalent
  • MSc and/or chartered status
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum of a degree in planning or transportation and 10+ years related professional work experience after university graduation
  • Candidates based in KSA will be preferred
  • Arabic language proficiency is advantageous
  • Working experience with transportation modelling software such as VISUM/VISSIM & SATURN
  • Hands-on experience with junction/capacity analysis software such as SIDRA & SYNCHRO or similar
  • Experience delivering transportation projects within a multi-disciplinary technical environment
  • Competency in development planning principles, access control, functional planning, public transport issues, temporary traffic management, pedestrian and non-motorised transportation, and transport demand theory
  • Experience in the Middle East or Gulf (minimum 5 years) and familiarity with local trends and transport planning practices and standards including securing approvals from statutory authorities
  • Experience with transport assessment, preliminary highway design and a good appreciation of transport appraisal and modelling techniques
  • Practical understanding of transport planning in development access, citywide mobility and people's needs
  • Project experience in the Middle East, familiarity with local trends and transport planning practices and standards (KSA and UAE)
  • Experience in providing appropriate junction analysis to assist traffic impact assessments
  • Excellent communication in written and spoken English
  • Experience in project/financial management
  • Experience in giving technical presentations to diverse and non-technical audiences
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with electronic document management and quality assurance systems
  • Willingness to travel internationally
