Job description
Key Responsibilities and Duties (Inpatient Pharmacy Manager):
  1. Supervises and directs the staff to provide professional, safe and timely pharmaceutical services to the patients.
  2. Develops, coordinates, implements and ensures compliance with all Fakeeh Health Care Facility and pharmacy services policies and procedures and ensures compliance of staff with accreditations standards.
  3. Schedules staff as required to be sure of the smooth of work especially during peak hours.
  4. Evaluates, develops and implements at all times best practice recommendations related to medication safety.
  5. Ensures that medication verification and medication dispensing (including take home medications) in inpatient pharmacy meets set time frames.
  6. Conducts periodic performance evaluation of the inpatient pharmacy staff and gives the staff constructive feedback.
  7. Reports the nearly expired medicines (within 6 months) to medical stockroom, ensures return when applicable and subtracts from the inventory.
  8. Trouble shoots variations and problems that could arise from day to day work.
  9. Reviews on monthly basis inpatient pharmacy indicators and addresses variations by developing performance improvement projects.
  10. Ensures that inventory of narcotic and controlled drugs is done every shift and re-check it.
  11. Ensures that pharmacists do the inventory of medicines and re-checks the inventory.
  12. Provides training and detailed orientation for newly hired staff.
  13. Promotes, encourages and assists pharmacy personnel in their self-development.
  14. Works on self-development by enrolling in continuous education program regarding medication management practices, high risk medications, medication errors and others.
  15. Evaluates, develops and implements best practice recommendations related to medication safety.
  16. Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.
  17. Inpatient Pharmacy Automation related functions if applicable:
  • Understands clinical, technical, and business workflows to achieve planned outcomes for projects.
  • Oversees clinical management of the Automated Dispensing Cabinets, such as determining override standards, implementing Clinical Data Categories and developing policies and procedures.
  • Assimilates information from variety of sources, able to analyze data and make recommendations and executes a course of action.
  • Designs quality assurance and process improvement studies to monitor and utilize the Automated Dispensing Cabinets.
  • Develops training checklists and competency for pharmacy staff. Closely manage the pharmacy automation technicians.
  • Researches and trends information from reports or data files from multiple divisions and service centers.
  • Manages all requests for Automated Dispensing Cabinets design or drug dictionary changes to the enterprise system standards and strategy.
  • Reviews interface design and ongoing activity.
  • Participates in policy and procedure development and review.
  • Redesigns and monitor workflow pertaining to Automated Dispensing Cabinets activities, including override activities.
  • Manages the Automated Dispensing Cabinets formulary for new medications.
  • Assists in resolving Automated Dispensing Cabinets issues as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Manages the Automated Dispensing Cabinets user database.
  • Assures appropriate testing of all integrated applications.
  • Provides supports to Pharmacy staff and all other stakeholders to increase adoption, improve and enhance Pharmacy information solutions for high quality safe patient care, education and research.
  • Oversees all Pharmacy Automation systems’ maintenance, assuring minimal impact on Pharmacy workflow.
Job Requirements
  • Saudi Nationality only.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in hospital pharmacy and 4 years’ experience in leadership position.
  • Bachelor’s Degree of Pharmacy.
  • License for practice as per the regional health regulatory authority e.g. (SCFHS / DHA).
