INTECH Automation Intelligence is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer – Substations to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in supporting Substation Solutions across industries such as Oil & Gas (Upstream, Midstream, Downstream), Petrochemicals, and Utilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for project execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and optimizing design for safety, maintainability, and cost efficiency. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills to successfully execute electrical engineering projects from inception to completion. What You’ll Lead and Deliver
  • Lead the design, engineering, and integration of Electrical Solutions (ES) including Medium & Low Voltage Distribution, Substation Automation Systems, Protection Relays, and Electrical Integration projects.
  • Develop and review engineering deliverables such as single‑line diagrams, control schematics, protection philosophies, I/O lists, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and integration architectures.
  • Perform detailed design of Substation Automation Systems (SAS) including IEC 61850 engineering, GOOSE messaging, MMS, SCADA integration, and communication architecture.
  • Configure, test, and commission IEDs, bay controllers, protection relays, and power automation equipment.
  • Lead the development, FAT, SAT, and site commissioning of ES projects ensuring compliance with engineering standards and customer specifications.
  • Review OEM documents, vendor technical offers, and product datasheets for system compatibility and technical validation.
  • Troubleshoot system issues related to power automation, relay logic, communication protocols, and integration with DCS/SCADA.
  • Lead technical discussions with internal teams, OEMs, and engineering stakeholders to finalize system architecture and technical scope.
  • Ensure engineering quality including compliance with IEC, IEEE, SEC, Aramco, and other relevant standards.
  • Prepare technical manuals, test procedures, method statements, and engineering reports.
  • Support automation and engineering teams in the implementation of upgrades, enhancements, and brownfield modifications.
  • Mentor junior engineers, review their deliverables, and ensure technical accuracy in all engineering submissions.
  • Collaborate with PU leads and cross‑functional teams for continuous improvement of ES engineering frameworks, tools, templates, and best practices.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Power, or Electronics Engineering.
  • Minimum 6+ years of hands‑on technical experience in:
    • Substation Automation Systems (SAS)
    • Protection Relays (Siemens, ABB, SEL, Schneider, GE, etc.)
    • Electrical Integration & LV/MV Distribution
    • IED engineering, configuration, and testing
    • SCADA, eSCADA, PMS, DMS, communication protocols (IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3)
  • Strong knowledge of bay controllers, switchgear, control & protection systems, and substation communication networks.
  • Experience performing FAT, SAT, pre‑commissioning, and site commissioning.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, protection coordination studies, and system architecture documents.
  • Experience working on projects with utilities such as SEC, Aramco, or international utility standards (preferred).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity guidelines for electrical systems is a plus.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Arabic language/ A conversational proficiency in Arabic is a plus (optional).
