Job summary

A leading technical services provider in Saudi Arabia is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to conduct inspections and manage NDT processes. The ideal candidate will have a university degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 7 years of experience in heavy industrial environments. Strong knowledge of various NDT methods and engineering standards is essential. This role requires excellent analytical and communication skills and offers competitive compensation.

Qualifications

  • 7 years Mechanical Engineering Inspection and NDT experience in a heavy industrial or utilities environment.
  • Knowledge of Engineering International Standards (ASTM, ASME, API, AWWA, ISO).
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety Systems and Quality Management Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Static Equipment Inspection and review NDT reports.
  • Prepare reports documenting recommendations and compliance.

Overview

Position Title: Inspector - Mechanical. Reports to: Lead Engineer, Inspection. Department: Technical Services. Function: Technical. Job Code: Prepared / Revised on: December, 2008.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct all Static Equipment Inspection, review NDT reports and other related tests to assure the current conditions of plant equipment before/after maintenance activities, give recommendations for repair & assure quality of work and repair performed by Maintenance.
  • Conduct Testing & Commissioning: perform the required Static Equipment NDT inspections and other related tests and generate reports on plant/equipment condition.
  • Compliance to inspection plan and perform Technical Studies: communicate with Maintenance for scheduling Inspection and NDT tests of equipment as per Major shutdown requirements.
  • Prepare Reports: document recommendations and compliance; review contract submittals and identify variances with respect to scope of work to ensure company requirements are met for testing; revise submittals addressing variances identified.
  • Inspection & Monitoring: monitor and inspect all plant equipment and systems by NDT methods according to schedule and call in order to evaluate reliability and integrity; complete inspections and NDT as per schedule and provide timely inspection reports.
  • Quality Assurance: test quality of materials, equipment and systems through NDT methods to ensure relevant quality standards are met; perform NDT as per standard; schedule and manage Non-Destructive Testing activities.
  • Cost Control: monitor financial performance of activity areas versus budgets, identify and rectify unsatisfactory performance promptly and capitalise on improvement opportunities where applicable.
  • Policies & Procedures: recommend improvements to departmental procedures and implement instructions and controls for Inspection and NDT activities to meet procedural/legislative requirements while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
  • Safety, Quality & Environment: ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental management procedures within the Inspection and NDT activities to guarantee employee safety, regulatory compliance and high-quality output.
Job Context

The jobholder communicates with maintenance regarding Static, NDT inspection and test schedules for Major shutdowns; solves mechanical problems related to static equipment; supports Project, Design, Maintenance and Operations with Static Equipment and NDT inspection details to effect modifications and changes; keeps up with evolving mechanical equipment, systems and market prices.

Communication & Working Relationships

Internal: Plant Operations & Maintenance Departments; Lead Engineer Inspection / Superintendent. External: Vendors for information on latest technology as needed.

Frameworks, Boundaries & Decision Making Authority

All company facilities in Jubail / Yanbu. Evaluate contract submittals regarding Inspection and NDT or other Mechanical Test purposes; evaluate contractor performance; prepare scope of works and technical reports regarding Inspection and NDT.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Minimum Qualifications: University degree in Mechanical Engineering. Minimum Experience: 7 years Mechanical Engineering Inspection and NDT experience in a heavy industrial or utilities environment. Job-Specific Skills: Knowledge of various NDT methods (MT, PT, UT, RT); development and implementation of test procedures; knowledge of Engineering International Standards (ASTM, ASME, API, AWWA, ISO, etc.).
