Job description

Responsible for assisting a Dentist engaged in diagnostic, operative, surgical, periodontal, preventive, orthodontic, prosthodontics, endodontic or pedodontic procedures during examination and treatment of patients. The clinical functions performed include; preparing and dismissing patients; point of use cleaning of instrumentation and disinfecting equipment; providing post-operative instructions prescribed by the Dentist; maintaining supply order; maintaining applicable records, and others as requested by the Dentist

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures through his/her actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the Riyadh Care Hospital.
  • Assists designated Dentist and provides oral hygiene prophylaxis.
  • Performs oral prophylaxis and gives oral hygiene instructions to the patients.
  • Provides chair side assistance to the Dentists.
  • Maintenance of the materials, equipment and cleanliness.
  • Performs cleaning, washing, packing and sterilization of instruments to prevent cross infection as per department policy.
  • Maintains and periodically reviews skill learned in First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation; handles medical emergencies until the Dentist arrives on the scene or assists the Dentist in rendering emergency first aid until additional medical help is available.
  • Charts accurately the findings of the patient’s oral conditions as reported by the doctor; records the treatment rendered in the patient’s permanent chart.
  • Coordinates with the reception and encoder for charges, arranging appointments and other necessary paper work.
  • Participates in on-going education monthly as developed by the department.
  • Help maintains dental surgery equipment.
  • Abides by the department policies and procedures, by-laws, rules and regulations of the Insurance Hospital.
  • Responsible to educate patients /families as per their needs and to implement their whole role regarding patient / family education process as mention in patient & family education policy and procedure (NSP-GEN-014) including documentation in patient medical record.
  • They are knowledgeable about their essential role in patient and family education.
  • Complies with hospital dress code.
  • Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities.

Qualifications

A minimum of:

  • Certified Dental Assistant through challenge exam from a professionally recognized organization.
Experience

Required

  • Minimum one (1) years’ experience Post Qualification.

Desirable

  • Registration in Saudi Medical Council.
