Job description
Project Overview

The Ar Rjum Project comprises a green field gold project with three open‑pit mining operations with associated waste dumps and ore stockpile, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and permanent accommodation village. The Project is situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north‑east of Taif toward Riyadh and about 26 km south of Al Mouwayh, which is a small town situated on the Jeddah‑Riyadh highway.

Job Summary

In this role, you will participate in subcontract formation and/or administration. Subcontract formation includes leading preparation and review of bid request packages and developing project contracts operating procedures. Subcontract administration includes continual progress review, forecasting, and communication of difficulties. Your work will ensure subcontract compliance with project requirements.

Subcontract Management
  • Implements the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule which records the Project’s agreed assignment of various subcontract management tasks and the Standard Work Process Procedures applicable to Subcontract Management
  • Manages assigned subcontracts maintaining a continual review of progress and providing management with information regarding projected financial or technical difficulties
  • Coordinates with designated staff on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, subcontract performance, and other major matters
  • Manages moderately complex contract changes by negotiating with customer personnel and obtaining settlement
Subcontract Formation
  • Conforms and ensures subcontract execution
  • Directs negotiation in the commitment of subcontracts
  • Develops and issues subcontracts and services agreements as assigned
  • Prepares bidders’ lists and pre‑qualifies bidders
  • Forms bid request packages and issues bid request packages to approved bidders
  • Coordinates bidders’ questions and answers to those questions
  • Receives bids and evaluates bids commercially
  • Prepares Commercial Bid Summary and recommendations
  • Recommends and secures approvals in accordance with established procedures
  • Prepares subcontract documents for execution
  • Prepares and organizes assigned meetings, such as pre‑bid, bid clarification and pre‑award meetings, for the purpose of ensuring complete understanding and agreement between Bechtel, the customer and contractor on all contractual matters
  • After reviewing plan and agenda with supervisor, conducts meeting and prepares and issues meeting notes delineating important statements, required actions and schedules
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8‑10 years of relevant experience or 12‑14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience in formation and contract administration management of large, moderately complex construction contracts and services contracts
  • Demonstrated skills in working and communicating effectively with all levels of project functional groups
  • Experience in a wide range of contract types and associated pricing arrangements
  • Experience in change management procedures pertaining to Requests for Information (RFIs), change notices, change orders, amendments, and claims and dispute resolution
  • Experience in negotiating terms and conditions, and variations
