About the Hospital

Opened originally in 1983, this 1600‑bed flagship National Guard Hospital has continued to expand and develop its services and now offers a high quality of service in all medical and surgical specialties including a highly equipped Cardiac Centre, highly specialised transplant, and hepatobiliary services.

The Emergency Care Centre at this hospital continues to be the best Trauma Care Centre in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is ranked as the 4th Emergency Care Centre outside the United States of America, to provide (PHTLS) Pre‑Hospital Trauma and Life Support programme.

The complex also houses a specialised children’s hospital, a 600‑bed hospital which commenced operations with the opening of the Paediatric Emergency Department and the transfer of 90 patients inclusive of 11 Intensive care critical patients on 19th and 20th April 2015.

Qualifications Required
  • 3 years Consultant experience in a Western hospital
  • 3 years post‑specialist qualification experience from the following countries:
    • UK – CCT
    • USA – American Board
    • Canada – Canadian Fellowship
    • Ireland – CSD/CSCST
    • Australia & New Zealand – Fellowship
    • France – DES/DESC
    • Other European countries according to the qualification equivalence tables of the SCFHS.
