Job Description

An AI Expert is a highly experienced professional with deep and broad knowledge across artificial intelligence who provides advanced guidance, mentorship, and problem‑solving on complex or cross‑cutting AI initiatives. “AI Senior Consultant” is the go‑to person (internal or external) who can connect the dots between AI domains and keep programs state‑of‑the‑art while aligning with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical advisory: Advise on hard AI problems, evaluate modeling approaches/architectures, and troubleshoot issues (e.g., training instability, non‑convergence, data leakage). Review project plans and model designs for soundness.
• Thought leadership & strategy: Identify high‑value opportunities for AI, assess emerging technologies, and recommend strategic directions (e.g., where to invest in new capabilities or data assets).
• Cross‑department collaboration: Liaise across projects to avoid duplicated effort, share approaches, and translate AI capabilities/limitations for executives and non‑technical stakeholders.
• R&D and innovation: Stay current with research, prototype novel ideas, and participate in external communities (conferences, publications, open‑source) to keep practices cutting edge.

Qualifications

• Experience: Typically 5+ years in AI/ML (fewer if experience includes significant, high‑impact contributions across multiple projects).
• Portfolio: Evidence of impact such as patents, publications, open‑source contributions, or high‑profile project outcomes.
• External recognition: Speaking engagements, standards/consortium participation, or similar indicators of recognized expertise.
• Teaching/mentoring: Demonstrated experience coaching teams and institutionalizing best practices.
