A leading reinsurance provider in Mexico City is looking for a detail-oriented Technical Accountant. In this role, you will manage financial transactions and relationships for assigned client portfolios, ensuring compliance with rigorous standards. Strong analytical skills and a proactive nature are essential. You will also be part of a hybrid work model, expected to be in the office at least three days a week.

Formación

  • Sound financial accounting principles and knowledge.

About the Team

The Technical Accounting team focuses on learning essential responsibilities and increasing independence as experience grows. Team members have accounting experience and responsibility for priority clients. They drive unit performance and proactively identify trends in their portfolios, steering performance and contributing to the XFT. The team serves as drivers of standard operating procedures, guidelines, key controls and change management initiatives.

About the Role

As a Technical Accountant, you'll oversee financial transactions and relationships for assigned client portfolios while ensuring compliance with our rigorous standards. You'll be empowered to identify opportunities for improvement and drive positive change within our processes.

  • Manage relationships with external clients and internal stakeholders for assigned accounts
  • Analyze and understand client portfolio mix including Type of Business/Line of Business and volume metrics
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to financial and operational service standards as defined in Service Agreements
  • Drive performance to achieve Unit's Operational and Financial KPIs
  • Maintain quality standards within the Technical Accounting Quality Management framework
  • Ensure compliance with Key Controls and provide comprehensive analysis with proper documentation
  • Resolve account and payment discrepancies with clients
  • Perform accurate 1st or 2nd level sign-offs and handle queries from processing units
  • Coordinate and prepare monthly/quarterly performance measurements and reviews
  • Perform operational duties including accounting transactions, billing, collection, and cash allocation as needed
  • Participate in projects and special tasks, taking initiative to improve efficiency
  • Analyze and validate ceding company reports in alignment with validation framework
  • Identify root causes and conduct failure analysis of workflow issues
About You

You're a proactive accounting professional with strong analytical skills and attention to detail. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can apply your financial expertise while building relationships with stakeholders. Your problem-solving abilities and self-motivation allow you to navigate complex situations and deliver consistent results.

  • University degree in finance, accounting, economics, or administration
  • Sound financial accounting principles and accounting know-how
  • Insurance or Reinsurance accounting experience
  • Strong MS Office proficiency (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
It would be great if you also have:
  • Understanding of end-to-end processes and broader reinsurance concepts
  • Experience working in virtual/remote international teams
  • Demonstrated agility and ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Experience implementing change initiatives
  • Results-oriented working style with strong focus on performance and risk management
  • Strong service and client orientation

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week
