Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) – Fragrance Manufacturing – Location: Near Mexico City, Mexico (On-site at manufacturing facility). Candidates must be bilingual due to the nature of the role.

Your Role at Pura

We are seeking a highly motivated Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to join our Quality team. This individual will be based on-site at our fragrance manufacturing facility near Mexico City and will serve as the primary liaison between our suppliers, production teams, and corporate quality functions. The SQE will be responsible for ensuring that incoming raw materials, components, and packaging meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role is critical to maintaining product integrity, reducing supplier-related defects, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Own
  • Act as the primary quality interface for suppliers, addressing quality issues and driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Conduct supplier audits, assessments, and process capability studies to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to implement quality improvement plans and ensure timely resolution of non-conformances.
  • Monitor and analyze supplier performance metrics, generating reports and driving performance improvements.
  • Ensure incoming material inspections are effective and aligned with quality standards.
  • Support new supplier qualification, including reviewing documentation, performing audits, and approving initial production runs.
  • Work closely with production, R&D, and supply chain teams to resolve quality concerns and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to supplier quality, including quality agreements, audit findings, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards, GMP, and industry regulations applicable to fragrance manufacturing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical, or related field).
  • 5+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or a similar role, preferably within the fragrance, cosmetics, or chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with supplier audits, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001, GMP, and other relevant quality standards.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, FMEA).
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and production line automation.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills in both Spanish and English.
  • Ability to work independently and travel to supplier locations as required.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with fragrance raw materials and regulatory requirements (IFRA, REACH, etc.).
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher).
  • Proficiency with quality management systems (QMS) and ERP systems.
