Job Description
Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Position Objective
Lead theproduction launchand optimization offlame/torch brazingprocesses forautomotive air conditioning tubing and components, ensuring reliable aluminum joints, process stability, and compliance with OEM standards for quality, cost, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadproduction start-ups and launchesfor automotive A/C brazing processes.
- Design, validate, and optimizeflame or torch brazingprocesses for aluminum (tubes, fittings, andIHX assemblies).
- Performmachine setup and start-up, includingpressure control,gas flow and mix adjustments,flame configuration, andtorch setup.
- Define and standardize critical process parameters (pressure, temperature, time, surface preparation, and local atmosphere control).
- Diagnose and resolve quality issues (leaks, insufficient/excess filler, porosity, distortion, mechanical strength).
- Coordinate functional and leak tests; support metallographic analysis as required.
- Ensure compliance withIATF 16949, APQP/PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and OEM-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with design, quality, maintenance, and equipment/consumables suppliers.
- Train operators and technicians onflame brazing, safety, and best practices.
- Drive productivity improvements, scrap reduction, and process robustness.
Process / Product Scope
- Automotive air conditioning tubing and assemblies.
- IHX (Internal Heat Exchanger) assemblyand related component joining.
Requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing with a strong focus on flame/torch brazing .
- Proven expertise in machine setup and start-up , pressure control systems , gas adjustments , flame and torch configuration .
- Demonstrated experience with production launches (APQP/PPAP).
- Strong knowledge of aluminum brazing for automotive A/C systems.
- Technical English proficiency (intermediate–advanced).
- Hands-on technical leadership on the shop floor.
- Root cause analysis and problem-solving.
- Effective communication and cross-functional teamwork.
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and results.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Process stability at launch (Cp/Cpk).
- Scrap, rework, and leak rate in hermeticity testing.
- On-time PPAP and launch milestones.
- Cost reduction and downtime related to the process.
