A leading automotive manufacturer seeks a Low Voltage EDS Design and Release Engineer in Naucalpan de Juárez, Mexico. This hybrid role involves designing and validating wiring harnesses, ensuring quality and cost optimization. The ideal candidate should have a BS in Engineering, at least 3 years of experience in wiring, and the capability to travel to suppliers. Strong English skills and proficiency in 3D design via Catia are essential.

Formación

  • Minimum 3+ years of wiring or electrical experience.
  • Functional knowledge of vehicle electrical systems is a plus.
  • Experience with vehicle development processes is desirable.

Responsabilidades

  • Design wiring harnesses to meet program objectives.
  • Lead wire routing and CAD layout activities.
  • Interface with Systems Engineering on schematic development.

In this position...

The Low Voltage (LV) EDS Design and Release (D&R) Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and release of the wiring harnesses under her/his responsibility.

The EDS D&R is also responsible for design improvements that lead to quality increase, cost and weight optimization.

This position is a salary grade 6.

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.

Qualifications

You\'ll have...

  • BS in Engineering discipline
  • Strong English Proficiency (written, read, and oral).
  • Design Capable in 3D via Catia V5 or 3DX.
  • Ability to travel to suppliers or assembly facilities to support APQP and build events.
  • Low Voltage Wiring Experience.
  • Minimum 3+ Wiring or electrical years of experience.

Even better, you may have...

  • Functional knowledge of vehicle electrical system or functional knowledge of vehicle wiring system.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle development process (GPDS), change control process (WERS), and vehicle launch experience.
  • Microsoft Office Usage (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio).

Responsibilities

What you\'ll do...

  • Design wiring harnesses complying with program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets.
  • Lead 3D wire routing and package CAD layout activity.
  • Interface with Systems Engineering on logical and physical schematic development.
  • Definition and support of wire size/type selection based on Requirements and Design Rules.
  • Utilize best design efficiencies for manufacturing, assembly, and failure mode avoidance practices.
  • Issue resolution in Digital and Build Phases of Product Development.
  • Create and maintain program specific foundation documents (Boundary Diagrams, Quality History, P-diagram, DFMEA, etc.).
  • Create and maintain harness family complexity.
  • Drive commonality of designs across multiple programs and platforms.
  • Develop and maintain installation illustrations.
  • Release parts in FEDEBOM and WERS through the product life cycle. Support the Change Control Meeting.
  • Complete Technical Design Reviews (TDR’s) with Technical Specialists.
  • Manage component and harness APQP with STA Partners and on time part delivery.
  • Review pre-production vehicles for potential campaign items and assess warranty impact.
  • Participate in vehicle builds and lead resolution of issues (AIMS).
  • Lead resolution of warranty (GSAR) issues with PVT and Supplier.
  • Lead EDS cost analysis/estimates and support reviews.
  • Define harness to harness in-line connector pinouts and terminal sizing.
  • Lead electrical EDS compatibility reviews and sign-off wire harness prints.
  • Lead signoff of EDS Design requirements and Design rule checks.
  • Manage logical design data via Catia, 3DX and Team Center Engineering
