Job Description

As Johnson & Johnson MedTech Electrophysiology, our goal is to empower patients with atrial fibrillation through advanced, personalized cardiac arrhythmia treatments. We are seeking a Principal Automation Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of automated equipment that supports product manufacturing and new product development.

Purpose

The Automation Engineer is an individual contributor responsible for the development and introduction of automated new and upgraded equipment in accordance with product manufacturing needs. Requirements include new product development, design changes, capacity increase, quality and process productivity improvement metrics. The engineer leads planning, design, scheduling, and control of Automation projects to support new product development, contributes to KPI achievements, and supports company initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and assistance to assigned engineers, drafters, and technicians for design concepts, proof of project intent, and feasibility.
• Establish automation deliverable timelines and ensure adherence to expected deadlines.
• Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Conduct complex regulatory assessments and recommend improvements for compliance.
• Create documentation for all equipment and system modifications through approved change control methods.
• Develop, validate, and execute validation strategies for equipment implementation.
• Coach the project management team on scope changes, including time and cost impact.
• Lead capital‑management initiatives: cost estimating, timing, cost‑benefit, and technical fit evaluations.
• Communicate business‑related issues or opportunities to management.
• Support evaluation of business plans for portfolio prioritization.
• Maintain and.adherent team’s adherence to health, safety eleito and environmental practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Ensure subordinates follow health, safety, and environmental guidelines and that resources are available and in good condition.

Qualifications / Requirements

• University or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, any specialty.
• Experience in the medical device industry.
• Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices.
• Knowledge of specific business practices and related software applications.
• Effective communication skills with a diverse clientele.
• Collaborative work ethic.
• Ability to perform duties in accordance with policies and comply with civil rights requirements.

Education

• B.S. EngineeringPreco Degree or Science Discipline

Job Experience

An advanced degree, such as an MS or MBA is preferred. Project Management and strong cross‑functional business experience.āk Minimum of 9 years’ experience in the implementation and support of highly automated manufacturing systems.

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Applications, e.g., Excel and Power Point.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Self‑direction and proactivity, effective management of personal time.
• Talent management and development preferred.
• Demonstrate leadership skills when collaborating with multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Manage projects and supervise support staff, as assigned.
• Hands‑on large project management delivery experience.

• Proven experience in managing subcontractors.
• Knowledge of good manufacturing practices and documentation, preferably in the medical industry.
• Knowledge of technical skills in programming (Python, Java, C#), scripting (Git), automation frameworks (Selenium), testing tools, CI/CD pipelines and database (SQL) along with a foundational understanding of mechanical and electrical systems or computer science (Preferred).
• Essential soft skills include problem‑solving and analytical thinking.
