A leading manufacturing company in Saltillo, Coahuila, is seeking a Plant Manager to oversee daily operations and drive continuous improvement. This role requires strong leadership skills, knowledge of lean manufacturing, and a track record of achieving production goals. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 7–10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. The position offers an opportunity to impact operational excellence and foster a safe work culture.

Formación

The Plant Manager provides day-to-day leadership across assembly operations, materials, maintenance, and quality, and plays a key role in driving continuous improvement, lean manufacturing practices, and Operational Excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Production Leadership & Execution
  • Leads the daily production operations to ensure schedule attainment and adherence to customer demand.
  • Oversee Master Production Schedule (MPS), labor deployment, and machine capacity to achieve volume targets.
  • Drive productivity through monitoring and improving OEE, takt time, throughput, and downtime.
  • Ensure production processes meet quality, safety, and operational standards.
  • Optimize changeovers, resource allocation, and line balancing to improve output and cost efficiency.
  • Customer Requirements & Delivery Performance
  • Ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) customer delivery for all orders.
  • Utilize forecasting, capacity planning, and production scheduling to meet fluctuating customer demands.
  • Partner with Customer Service, Sales, and Supply Chain to anticipate demand risks and implement mitigation plans.
  • Respond immediately to customer escalations and lead containment, root cause, and corrective action activities.
  • Maintain plant performance to customer scorecards, audits, and quality standards.
  • Play key role in representing CVG-Derramadero to the Customer Base.
  • Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure all products meet customer specifications, internal standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead quality system compliance (ISO/IATF), audit readiness, and corrective action closure.
  • Oversee customer complaint management, scrap reduction, PPM improvements, and warranty reduction strategies.
  • Maintain detailed process controls, SOPs, standard work, and documentation integrity.
  • Production Efficiency & Cost Optimization
  • Achieve annual targets for conversion cost, scrap, direct labor efficiency, and overhead management.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities through lean manufacturing, waste elimination, and process optimization.
  • Optimize staffing, overtime, and equipment utilization to balance productivity with cost control.
  • Manage and forecast plant operating budget, capital investments, and resource needs.
  • Capacity, Materials, and Operational Readiness
  • Ensure production capacity matches customer requirements through labor planning, shift structure, and equipment capability.
  • Collaborate closely with Supply Chain and Purchasing to maintain material availability and mitigate supplier risks.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and material flow through the plant.
  • Resolve any operational risks that could affect customer delivery (machine downtime, labor shortages, constraints).
  • New Product Launch & Engineering Change Management
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) through manufacturing readiness, training, PPAP/APQP requirements, and process validation.
  • Implement engineering changes (ECNs/ECOs) with minimal disruption to production flow.
  • Partner with Engineering and Quality to ensure smooth integration of changes to product or process.
  • Safety & Environmental Compliance
  • Drive a proactive safety culture ensuring zero incidents and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain ISO compliance, conduct root cause investigations, and ensure corrective actions are sustained.
  • Oversee environmental compliance, waste handling, and facility housekeeping standards.
  • Leadership, People Development, & Culture
  • Lead, coach, and develop frontline supervisors, production managers, and hourly workforce.
  • Build an engaged culture through communication, recognition, accountability, and consistent leadership presence on the floor.
  • Ensure training, certification, and skills development programs support production capability.
  • Manage performance, succession planning, and workforce readiness.
  • Metrics & Reporting
Own and Report Performance On Plant KPIs
  • Safety: TRIR, near-misses, audit results
  • Quality: Scrap, rework, customer PPM, complaints
  • Delivery: OTIF, schedule adherence, backlog
  • Cost: Productivity, labor efficiency, overhead, waste
  • People: Retention, training completion, absenteeism
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field (required).
  • 7–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment; automotive or high-demand industrial preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading production, quality, delivery, and cost improvements.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to manage customer-facing requirements, audits, and escalations.
  • Effective leadership, change management, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and advanced planning tools.
  • Understanding of IATF/ISO quality systems and PPAP/APQP processes.
  • Experience in multi-shift, high-volume, or complex assembly environments.
