Overview
The Materials Supervisor has full operational responsibility for all aspects of Controls' purchasing and planning functional areas for electronic board manufacturing and final assemblies, supporting the La Mesa and Lago Sur plants. The Controls plants produce a wide variety of high-technology electronic control systems. The accountabilities include safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and cost, while managing NPD, and superior production planning and adherence management.
On the other hand, the candidate is a functional expert (SME) with both technical and people management skills, as well as capabilities in customer relationship management (both external and internal). Also, coaches and mentors the Operations leadership, and should be presently promotable for a Materials Manager role.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of purchasing for a fast-paced manufacturing plant.
- Execute corporate and strategic plans to meet goals, including Inventory levels, cost reduction, VMI/stocking agreements, supplier consolidation, alternative vendor development, on-time delivery performance, and excess and obsolete reduction.
- Continuously drive inventory reduction through developing and executing plans for lead time and buy reduction.
- Develop and execute plans for cost reduction.
- Eliminate material shortages.
- Maximize People-Soft system utilization.
- Develop improved purchasing systems and controls.
- Work as a true team player, willing to perform tasks outside of the day-to-day operations environment.
- Supervise, develop, and provide leadership to buyers and other materials team members.
- Maintain and continually improve theтеатр quality management system in the areas assigned with “risk management”.
- Assure compliance to company procedures, policies, and the most current revision of ISO 9001 standard.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in operations management, business, or engineering.
- Experience dealing with low-cost countries and domestic suppliers.
- 5-7 years of purchasing experience.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory and negotiation experience in purchasing or materials.
- Proven leadership with a continuous improvement approach and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong experience in negotiations with suppliers, resulting in successful cost reductions, lead‑time, package size, and payment terms improvement.
- A proven track record of cost savings, inventory reduction, and implementation of modern purchasing approaches (including JIT, Kanban, Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), and Lean Manufacturing).
- Knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, word‑processing, and ERP software applications週 required.
- Fully bilingual pled in English and Spanish.
- Capable of future career advancement to a materials Manager position.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- An advanced degree in business, engineering, science, or mathematics.
- Previous experience as a material or purchasing Manager.
- APICS/ISM certification.
- 10+ years of purchasing and/or materials leadership. еиҭеиҳәеит>uales
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft and/or other similar MRP systems.
- Previous experience in a seasonal manufacturing environment.
