A major automotive manufacturer located in Silao, Guanajuato, is looking for a Labor Relations Representative. The successful candidate will manage union relations, ensure compliance with agreements, and provide strategic advice to management. The role requires strong communication and leadership skills, with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in labor relations and intermediate to advanced English proficiency. The position is temporary, requiring full-time on-site work with rotating shifts.

Formación

  • Required experience in a similar position for at least 2 years.
  • Intermediate–Advanced English proficiency.
  • Experience working with unions and employee retention strategies.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience as a labor relations representative.

What will you do?

As a member of GM’s Human Resources Group you are responsible for Labor Relations in a plant environment. You perform administrative functions to support hourly employees in a manufacturing organization, maintain personnel records, and complete transactions. You investigate and resolve labor disputes and provide direction to production managers on Union/GM Local Agreements. You work independently with the supervisor director to handle unusual situations.

Responsibilities
  • Represent management in the administration of the provisions of agreements between the union and management.
  • Advise management on the interpretation of agreements and act as the management representative in dealings with the union.
  • Exercise independent judgment within the general policies and procedures established by the agreements; receive mentorship from the supervisor.
  • Advise management and other plant personnel on matters related to union‑management relations.
  • Administer contractual provisions in the area of responsibility.
  • Maintain records pertinent to labor relations activity.
  • Communicate with management about events that could disrupt operations.
  • Play a leading role in local negotiations.
  • Share periodic updates on labor relations.
  • Drive activities of various departments involved in resolving employee grievances.
  • Conduct special investigations as needed.

Position Requirements
  • Field of study: Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Required experience in a similar position for at least 2 years.
  • English proficiency: Intermediate–Advanced.
  • Experience working with unions, strategies for employee retention, and absenteeism.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience as labor relations representative for at least 2 years in the industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
