About the Role

This is a hands-on Junior Backend Engineer role focused on designing and building robust backend systems that support data-driven insights and operational excellence in animal care. You’ll work with a collaborative engineering team to scale cloud-based platforms, streamline data pipelines, and build APIs that integrate with mobile and web applications used by farmers and field technicians.

The ideal candidate is a Python developer who thrives in a startup environment—comfortable taking ownership of projects, collaborating across teams, and continuously learning new tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python

• Support systems-level initiatives to improve scalability, observability, and resilience

• Build and maintain data pipelines and integrations that power core products

• Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and customer-facing teams to deliver high-impact features

• Contribute to the evolution of backend architecture and cloud infrastructure

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• 1–3 years of experience as a Software Engineer

• Strong experience developing backend systems in Python

• Solid understanding of infrastructure, systems design, and cloud-native tooling

• Familiarity with SQL and modern data tools

• Proactive mindset and ability to take ownership of technical challenges

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, or DBT

• Exposure to AI/ML, especially in production environments

• Willingness to assist occasionally with internal IT tasks (e.g., device setup, basic troubleshooting)
