You will collaborate with a cross-functional Agile team and design backend services while building integrations with Azure and developing Python APIs. Candidates should have 3+ years in software engineering and expertise in AI development using tools like OpenAI and AWS Bedrock. This is a remote position open to candidates throughout Latin America.

At Devsu we are looking for an experienced AI Backend Developer who can architect and build an innovative AI-powered RPG content creation platform for a major publishing client. This is a high-impact, fast-paced project where you'll work directly with a Technical Principal, client stakeholders, and a cross-functional Agile team.

This role requires someone who can move quickly, make smart architectural decisions under pressure, work collaboratively in pair programming sessions, and balance technical excellence with pragmatic delivery. You'll be building the core AI engine and backend infrastructure that powers complex, stateful content workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services leveraging RAG architectures to deliver intelligent, context-aware responses.
• Build and maintain integrations with Azure AI Search and Azure OpenAI, optimizing query performance, relevance, and scalability.
• Develop Python-based APIs and microservices to support AI workflows and connect with the Drupal + React frontend.
• Collaborate with frontend and DevOps teams to ensure smooth deployment and integration of AI services.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and performance tuning for AI pipelines.
• Maintain security best practices for data handling, authentication, and API usage.
• Research and recommend new AI tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance system capabilities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering experience building production web applications
• Deep expertise in AI/LLM development - hands-on experience building applications with OpenAI, Anthropic, or AWS Bedrock APIs
• Proven experience with prompt engineering, context window management, RAG systems, and AI cost optimization
• Strong backend development skills – Python, API design, database architecture, distributed systems
• Deep expertise in designing and building systems on AWS - Lambda, ECS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and iterative development practices
• Pair programming experience - comfortable working synchronously with other developers
• Ability to task-switch rapidly and reprioritize in fast-moving, high-stakes environments
• Excellent communication skills - can explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
